Really nice. Keep taking it up the progressions... 9, liberty, show, full throw, etc... seeing if she can maintain that form. Nice job, maegan!

You can't micromanage the arm like this. She should not be worried so much about her hand position there and starting mid-downhill does NOT reflect the real motion, same as starting at wrist flips does not mimic the real motion. People are using a curveball video and then putting that all over the Web as the FB hand position. Just towards third somewhere is fine. We have girls who are still growing, while also being flexible. They listen and try and do perfectly what is told to them. So you don't need to overemphasize this and put all that stress on the elbow, and overthinking into something that is done to harness momentum not "hit positions." And then new parents come in and get sucked into all of this.

She should not bang her elbow into her side nor try and time how she hits her hip. Just slot the arm where it falls and leave all the brushing and banging out of it. I would go and read the BHH site and watch his videos.

I am not sure the complication in all of this and the obsession with the back side of the circle. It is really damaging IMO to the development of pitchers. Like I have posted, I have kids telling me in the middle of games they are failures because they can't get some position their dad or PC told them to get.

A good pitch is evidenced by the velocity of it and after that, the location. Do we micromanage the overhand throw like this? If some adult pitcher wants to experiment with things like this, let them, but keep it simple for kids.

Well I do not ever do wrist flicks with her "That would just be Well stupid" but since this is the last 1/4 and the most important part of the throwing motion I need to pay some attention to it. I only warm my DD up with 2 drills the 9:00 o'clock and the well a version of BM's liberty then Pitch her from 35 foot Do I never micromanage But I do need to pay attention to the parts that Matter. For it is my lack of paying attention to 3 things that have her frustrated in the first place. But I got her this far in 1 Year with just those 3 warm up drills So I will pay a little more attention and a little more video recording to keep her from getting the bad habits she has now.

but is not practice "Micromanaging" you practice different aspects of the game. You practice different parts of a swing and believe it or not in the beginning you practice different parts of overhand throwing as well most people have to learn it not everyone is a natural

I know when I am out manned and am willing to admit it. Started teaching her off of this site last year but joined 3 days ago well because quite frankly I needed micromanaged so I could teach it Because some of it I just do not get and it has been very frustrating for My DD and she matters to me :)

If you want your DD to be nothing more than a third rate rec pitcher than listen to OILF.

If you want great instruction by actual pitching coaches than listen to the advice provided by Java, Boardmember, KenB, Rick Pauly, etc.

FYI, arm whip is THE most critical aspect of the windmill pitch. If you don't get these mechanics right, nothing else matters. If someone tells you it's not important, especially for beginning pitchers, than they have no idea what makes a pitcher successful.

Looks really good. Great progress.
I do however see her rotate the ball forward a touch early, I would suggest asking her to try to get the peach fuzz on the back of her hand to brush the back side of her quad muscle, this will delay the premature rotation and produce more whip.
As Java said, lets see this drill progress into the full T and remember to mirror the glove side to the ball side with both palms upward pulling down together.
Just my .02....James

I'm not sure I agree with this. Seems that Balswick would also disagree, given how he described it in his three clips.

ITS THE HAND AND ARM POSITION IN THE BACK HALF THAT CREATES THE WHIP!

I DIDNT SEE ANY RIB BANGING HERE, I SAW A GIRL LEARNING HOW TO STAY TIGHT TO HER BODY...

a good pitch imo will ALSO be measured in spin as well, this kind of whip will produce more spin.
Keeping it simple for kids i agree with, however ill keep it simple in how i explain things to them, and not by watering down the core fundamentals.
