Okay I have a 10 yr old thats wants to start pitching. Problem is, I know nothing about fastpitch pitching. I've read a lot of threads on here, but with so much info I'm more confused that ever. Just wish I had some simple starting points of to do's,how to do it, and what to look for or try to accomplish doing it. Need some guide lines on start here with this, do this next , and work your way to this type of out line.

What are some common not to do's? Kinda like bug squishing in the hitting forums? Just need a good starting point and some guiding with her. We are looking into some training lessons, but haven't found on yet.

Thanks for any help
Chad

I have the previous version of the below and if I was you would purchase it and use it for your starting point:

Pitching 101: Starting from Scratch
Softball Pitching DVD Video Series

If you can too setup an area where your DD can pitch without a C. We have a small basement so DD can throw about 20’ into a tarp if she wants to practice.

(We also have a bownet we could setup so she could pitch outside by herself too, just have never done it because she can always find a C)

House of Pitching: Building the House is great. I'd also start with the IR threads, with close attention paid to Boardmember's "lock it in" and "unlock it" drills - those are great for a beginner IMO. My DD just started, and we use lock it in and unlock it as part of her warmup routine. She is a natural IR thrower, so making her work the drills is painful (bad throws and mental anguish, not physical pain) because it's making her think about what she does without thinking, but I'm hoping that she will be better at self-diagnosis through learning the drills. Plus it improves and reinforces proper muscle memory.

As quincy said, some place for her to practice as needed/desired is good. I have a bow net in my basement for my DD, but I will be hanging a tarp/blanket soon so that she can save time retrieving the balls. I'm also going to add a couple of cheap mirrors so she can check her form.

When you find a PC, there is a high probability that you will find a HE instructor. What I have found is that by using the IR threads to truly understand the mechanics of fastpitch, I can determine quickly if a PC gets it or not. Major indicator: palm up or down at 9 o'clock. My DD's PC teaches IR and even brush interference without using those terms, but I know them and know what to look for even if I can't teach it lol!

Pitching 101: Starting from Scratch is a newer version of Building the House. It came out relatively recently.

Damn, I JUST bought Building the House like a month ago. Didn't see that Starting from Scratch.

Duk, as a testimony on how good Hillhouse is, I immediately went to the website and purchased the new DVD lol!

I did about the same, I bought building the house about 2 months ago. Starting from Scratch wasn't out even a month ago I think. I ordered it too.
