Hey Ken thanks for all the input. I noticed that before with the ball going towards third at 10 o'clock but she ends up palm up. I checked other pitchers and some do it and some don't so I cant wait to hear more feedback on this. As for the side of the foot dragging that is the main thing I wanted to fix. If I have her do it without the ball(thinking about staying on her toe) she can do it fine. When I ask her to pitch like that she says it dont feel right. Where in season so I really wont push that until winter. Thanks again ken

I agree with you Ken. I really like her release position and her back leg.

A couple things that I see is she is trying to get open before she has finished her push off. See front foot sideways. That would help her fix her leap.

The other is in her launch position. She needs to get into a better forward angle during the launch position and not try to lift her shoulders up when her back foot is starting to come forward.

I bet the ball gets on the batter in a hurry!
I see what your saying about getting open to early.
As for the launch position you mean her drive of the rubber?

Very nice! Not a coach but her push-off foot does look like it would drag pretty bad especially on a field with deeper/softer dirt but she looks really good at her age!!

While there's always room for improvement, I tend to be hesitant about some changes without considering the big picture. For example, I'm not saying these successful pitchers are perfect or need work, but the do have some similar stuff going on:

And one more who dragged the side of her foot, kept a relatively straight arm and ball was not palm up at 10 o'clock...

Ken I noticed the same things with other pitchers in videos I watched. Im always open to better her mechanics but I don't want to change something if it doesn't improve her. The Toe drag is something will be working on this winter. I would still like to hear what you mean about her shoulder and what you think we should do to fix it. Thank you

Thanks for the pics clm. We have been working on her drive off a lot. If you noticed she gets down early on like a sprinter but then she pops up like you said. I think she understands but she gets caught in between what she wants to do and what she used to do. I think shes starting to get it but still a work in progress. Im a diehard reader of JS's Drive Mechanics.

I think her shoulders look pretty good from the angle in the video. She seems to be in/around the 45 degree range and locks/brushes well at release. Some might see the shoulder follow through as excessive or unnecessary, but I don't see it as a concern. The biggest thing I'd work at is getting the lower arm more loose and pulling the ball. Even then, you could work that when she's not pitching in games, but I honestly don't think putting some time into would hurt her. She has a great foundation and is well past most at her age!

You also have to compare these with whatever pitch they are throwing.
I also teach a "cheat" with the downswing on certain pitches.
As far as fastballs though I do like them to get under the ball as much as possible.
