It is amazing the majority of her answers, while worded slightly differently, are the same things Bill Hillhouse talked, wrote about, and spoke on video about 8-10 years ago. It's uncanny how similar the information.

I am not suggesting Amanda is not or was not a great one. But it doesn't seem like she got her teaching information from someone else. I wonder if they've spoken or went somewhere to learn these "new techniques".

She has always taught pitching well, and she is teaching pitching just fine without reading DFP. She got the information from her own pitching. If you are joking, it still is not funny.

Yeah I am sure became an elite pitcher all on her own. Never had any conversations about pitching with old guys like Mike White. However, some people consider her "old school" due to brush interference.

That's odd... she's a member here... Perhaps she's actually well educated... doesn't post a bunch of hooey and label it 'new school', and continually seeks to grow as a player/coach... by embracing proven methodologies that... actually yield good results... AND actually happen during high-level pitching.

When a person pitches "for real", they don't need to understand why things happen. (Nobody stops a game in the 3rd inning and asks the pitcher how she threw a riseball.) After someone stops pitching, she starts thinking about "why" she was successful and so many others were not.

Amanda is a really bright, intelligent person who wants to help people understand how to pitch. She does excellent work.

IMHO, it is great to have a woman with such a great background who is actually thinking about pitching mechanics. (Reminds me a little of Dusty Baker...he is one of the few really great hitters who really got into hitting mechanics.)

whether it was DFP or not, she has refined what she instructs. I have seen videos where she tells kids to follow through with an elbow pointed to the catcher. She is clearly evolving in her understanding of how she was so successful. Like it or not OILF, this board is a national resource for people in the fastpitch community and it's influence is felt by others, whether consciously or unconsciously the DFP voice does have an effect on what others teach. It is hard to Google any softball topic and not have a DFP thread pop up near the top. That is a good thing IMO, from your posts that seem to hate on DFP so much I sometimes wonder why you choose to participate.

I'm sorry if it sounded disrespectful toward her in my OP. It wasn't meant to. I have been watching her videos for a few years now and it just seems that her most current stuff is very clearly worded and explains in detail the principals of I/R that are encouraged on DFP. I remember the first time I watched videos of her and she was teaching what looked like an H/E tack on. Now it seems that she has taken the time to improve in her teaching techniques by studying what exactly she was so successfully doing on the field. I'm applauding her!
