How do I increase spin rate?

Go to the tennis section of a sporting goods store. You'll find foam balls that are designed for very young tennis beginners or for indoor practice. They're about equal in size to an 11" softball. These are great for pitching into a full length mirror. The pitcher can watch herself getting fully open as well as achieving max arm speed. The ball is light enough that its completely safe for indoor drills!! Three pack is about $8.00

I'll try anything that helps kids get the feel of something. My worry is that without seams, making a good connection might be tough.
