Looked pretty good to me. Both my DDs throw the drop and the crop with the same machanics.pretty much the crop is a go to pitch for both.

I must be nuts then. Cues like shorten your arm are what made me laugh. The thing I got the big kick out of was her student is stepping far right to throw across her body. I subscribe to more of "control the spin with the hand" technique. The DC is not exactly a mysterious pitch. No need to throw your body in the third base dugout to throw it.

Im probably the nuts one. I took the shortening of the arm cue as a release timing cue. My DD is 10 and just starting the curve when she gets her weight on her front leg and lifts her shoulder higher her curve becomes more of a drop.

The short arm comment I believe comes from the natural tendency to get to long and allowing your elbow and arm to drift away from your body' which makes the pitch rise higher in the zone and allows the pitch to get to far out of the zone and break to early.it also cuts way down on the spin. As far as legs and body I do have them step across the power line when throwing the crop. not the drop.

Just an observation but I believe it just shows how different coaches analyze mechanics differently. squeeze who I've always enjoyed his posts seems very detail oriented and was finding flaws that are not even on my radar, where my approach is more feel and overall oriented. That's what makes this board great. I enjoy having observations brought up that I would otherwise miss. All this without the vitriol that you find on other boards especially when pitching is concerned.

Sorry...I just can't buy into over stepping the power line as good mechanics. I don't see Cat doing it I don't see Keilani doing it. I don't see how it can do anything but make control more difficult and rob speed. The kids entire motion is flowing to her right then she throws the pitch left. how is this good?
