Keep in mind, I consider myself an on-site assistant pitching coach for the real experts here--Javasource, Boardmember, Rick Pauly, Bill Hillhouse, et. al. I hope to continue to develop this pitcher much further with the help of these titans. Too bad they don't live around the corner. But it's almost like they do give today's technology.

Won't they make a great roadshow?

Did u do any specific drills that help her drag that knee forward?

Nothing other than tell her to.

As far as the foot dragging hard, could it b that she is not standing tall when she releases the ball?

Yes. I constantly have to push her to "Stand tall! Posture! Posture!" She's clearly not getting as tall as she should here.

Maybe leaning too far back and not enough front side resistance on the front leg?

I'm not quite as concerned about this, as she is throwing a riseball. However, she does need to work on it with her fastball-drop.

Doug, do u teach a less than 45 degree on her leap foot? Does that make it easier to drag the back knee forward?

I would prefer her leap foot land a bit more pointed toward the catcher. I am constantly concerned that she's gonna roll her ankle, as she generally lands with that foot pointed toward the third-base dugout. I think her back knee does what it does because she leaps off the plate with her drive knee pointed right at the catcher. I would like to see it turn just a hair to help her get a bit more open. She doesn't get fully open and it affects the accuracy of her fastball-dropball.

Ok. I can see that happening if her knee goes forward from the start. I tell my DD that as soon as she plants her front foot she should roll to the top of her rear foot. It has been hard trying to get her to do that. We r a work in progress!
Thanks Doug!

Thanks Doug!

Initially, all three of my pitching student turned their right foot just prior to going into their leap. I felt it weakened their leap, so I pushed them to not turn that foot. The problem is that there is a trade-off. Keeping that foot straight (pointed to the catcher) can prevent some from getting fully open. This is the case with the pitcher in the clip. Her legs are long and weak, so I thought the straight right foot drive would be the way to get more power from her legs. How, together with Javasources recommendations, I'm thinking she needs to turn that foot just a little and drag off the side of her right big toe so as to help her get fully open. Hopefully, she'll continue to pull that back knee into the front side sorta like she's doing in the clip.

@Doug

Just wanted to say "Thank you" for posting the video. DD really appreciated the clip and it helped her translate what I've been saying.
