I agree I hate the flip change..My biggest gripe about it is it gives the batter time to re set in many instances. It is also not a well placed pitch most of the time! Id say show it but I wouldn't count on it.

??? I don't hate it at all. I reserve my hate for things like One Direction songs and hail that kept me awake all night last night...(Southern California-August-hail? Sure sign of a pending Apocalypse). The flip change (like Lacey Waldrop throws ;)) can be great. I don't see the ability to reset as an issue if it is thrown at a decent speed. I have seen young girls throw it at 29 mph and sure you can reset at that speed but even then the hitter is usually front footed so badly by then at those young ages that they just whack it with their arms only.

I do think that too often the CU in general is viewed as a strikeout pitch and I think it works better as a disrupted contacted pitch. Looks great when a girl whiffs 4 feet before the ball gets to the plate but more often than not just getting them to hit off the end of the bat is a great way to get an out.

For those who say the flip change is thrown too slow to be effective, if any of you watched the NPF finals Keilani Ricketts throws a 40mph change-up and her fastest pitch is 70mph. She has had a fairly successful pitching career throwing a slow change-up...
