My DD wears moulded to pitch (Ringor) and metal to play other positions. She prefers metal but its an affordability thing. I'm not buying another pair of Ringors simply because she wants metal. Still lots of wear in them. I got the metal for a ridiculous price on line (Reebok Classic $18). She loves them. Problem is that she goes through regular shoes when pitching like you-know-what through a screen door  so the Ringors carry on. This was her second year with the Ringors and they still have life left in them.

To the op (sorry for the Ringor sales pitch) all my players prefer metal. Have not seen any injuries related to metal vs moulded.

After looking at this thread I was convinced to go metal and then when I got on the Ringor site to order them today and I saw this blog :/ Now I'm unsure.

Molded Softball Cleats vs Metal Softball Cleats

Which is it - metal is better on hard dry earth or molded??

If it really hard ground what will dig in, molded plastic or steel? Go to a college showcase or any college tournament and look at what they are wearing. Do not think twice and go get yourself some steel.

Keep in mind that all shoe companies would prefer you wear molded plastic as they make more money off plastic than they do steel.

DD started wearing metal this year for travel...she can now not stand the fact that she has to wear molded in LL and HS, while the boys are allowed to wear metal in LL and HS. She has absolutely no desire to wear molded at all anymore
