Ladies and Gents,

Just thought I'd let you all know that our great friend, Rick Pauly, has accepted the position of Pitching Coach at the University of Georgia.

Rick is - and has always been - an invaluable resource here at DFP and in the world of softball, in general. The conversations and insights he continually shares have gone a long way in developing young athletes and coaches (myself included).

A few recent posts asking for Rick's advice/thoughts/expertise have gone unanswered... so although I don't want to speak on his behalf... rest assured that Rick is very much 'in the game' and a regular reader on this forum.

As some of you may know, the NCAA compliance rules will prohibit Rick from giving instructional information to players (or parents of players) that are of eligible age for recruitment... meaning... we will see a lot less of Rick in the near future on DFP... BUT...

... rather than pine in misery... let us join together and wish our invaluable resource/mentor the best in his latest accomplishment!

Congratulations, Rick!!!

Seemed Rick frequented the message board here while at USC Upstate. Why would being at Univ of Georgia be different?

Hey Rick,
I have a 6U kid who is struggling in consistency with her drop, rise, curve, change, screw and drop curve. Any suggestions on some cues she can incorporate to fine tune? She's cruising around 55-60, but we just get those occasional flyers...

Clearly she is slapping her thigh with the glove and that is what is causing the issue.... once she stops doing that, she'll throw rise curves at 70-75

It may or may not be... but that's outta our hands. With no disrespect to SCU, perhaps it's a bigger target...?

I recall policy mitigating communication to any student-athlete of prospect status... meaning, freshman (9th grade) in HS. But... I've heard of exceptions to that 'rule of thumb', too. Much of what governs 'policy' is in the interpretation of it... so who knows?! ;)

Ken, that 6U recently committed to Oklahoma (I hear she's been working out the new Romero recruit). Rumor has it that they got her straight outta recess period... but prior to nap time. ;)

Rick is amazing! Always willing to give advice and generous with his time and knowledge.

My only sad thought is I was really hoping for a coach training session program. :(

Congrats! To your success and that of the ladies you get to coach.
