I see the dip as just a result of posture... more of a biomechanical result than a conscious effort or teaching item, IMO...

You folks crack me up - next yer going to measure the exacting length on the fingernails of a pitcher and define at what millimeter length a pitcher becomes "wrong".....

With an average growth rate of 3mm in a month for fingernails I would love to see a section on fingernail management in relation to pitching.

Very important for a pitcher in my opinion.

Fingernail length is completely irrelevant for pitching except for the upkeep and repair. (Reminds me--Susette has me scheduled for a mani at 5... but we just scheduled a hitting practice....) Ok, there's also the time issue.

Back to the OP, I have realized that no instructor has 100% of the answers, most have no idea how arm whip is created, let alone understand the internal rotation of the shoulder, arm, and hand so I have stopped fighting the good fight and instead of challenging the PCs, have tried a new tactic. Educate my DD on the IR concept so she knows BS when she hears it, smiles and nods, and then does the correct mechanics at practice and in games. Most PC's have a wealth of information and experience (but could be clueless in a few concepts and techniques), so tap into that knowledge base (e.g. game strategy, competitive fire, drive mechanics, grip, pitch selection, etc.) and have DD learn as much as she can from them and help her filter out all the other nonsense. With this new approach, I think my sanity will be much better off:)
