Conservative? I would say arbitrary and capricious.

Some days, although rarely, my DD comes out throwing hard and hitting the spots right away. Typically though, she throws 50 or 60 short K's , long K's, and finishes with long walk throughs from 80 or 90 feet. So using the video guidelines, she would only be good for another 0 to 10 pitches in a game.

The bottom line is that you need to know your pitchers. Pitch counts need to be monitored and over time you will know the limits of your pitcher. Pitchers need to learn to listen to their body and communicate with their coaches. My experience with elite level pitchers is that their legs start to go well before their arm. Assigning arbitrary counts based on age group is nonsense.

She said full windmill Ks are not full windmill.

60 Ks seems excessive for warm up

Finally..some common sense in a pitch count thread

I have started taking Sue Enquist's advice and warming the pitchers up less. After warming up overhand, it doesn't take many pitches to get loose.

50 pitches, during a game are easy for me to count, for a beginning 10 year old. They get a couple days rest, because they are in rec. 10U TB, isn't too plentiful, here. It only takes one bad inning, for everything to go south, for a pitcher's pitch count.

Most pitchers think they need a long drawn out warmup routine. It is a pregame warmup not a workout. Many pitchers benefit from a short run prior to throwing to warm up the core and the legs. Then work on the arm, followed by their head. KISS!
