Rick and Ken,

Thanks I'm very happy to hear she is near where she needs to be. We will work on this, and as I might have stated we are transitioning to IR. The transition feels like we are taking a walk in the dark. This forum has been our biggest source of info.

One of the biggest obstacles to 'getting' IR is swimming the glove arm. When the glove arm swings out it tends to make the shoulders close (square up) early. When the shoulders close early the arm will straighten out and lose it's optimal IR action. Ask your daughter to keep her glove arm more in line which will keep her shoulders open longer and allow her flexed arm/elbow to get closer to her hip before whipping over (IR). I frequently tell my students that pitching is a lot more of a 'sideways' action than they realize and to stay sideways longer into the motion.

I think Amy is pretty much right.....her posture is not to bad.
You will note that after release she tends to "walk out".......this is an indication that she didn't get all the energy into the ball.....some stayed in the body. Front side resistance is important relative to the transfer of energy.
I cue phrase that works on many to develop front side resistance at time of release is "hit the wall and be tall".......do not let her step or lean thru the wall.
Hope that helps a bit.....she really is not to far off with her mechanics so this should be a relatively easy fix.

BUMP! one of my favorite quotes! Hope this helps brittflower1

Great posts here.

We just switched to a Tincher coach and they are spending much more time on the glove hand than we ever did before. And when my daughter gets that glove hand right she tends to also have the shoulders right, and also tends to have the release right and the whip right and on and on...

I'm not good enough to know if that's really what's happening but I can tell that sometimes when the glove swims the shoulders close too soon and things get wonky.
