DD is still working on the conversion from HE to IR and she has lost at least 5 mph on her speed. She has been to Hillhouse a couple times but has not been able to see him in a couple months. Clip above was taken last Saturday at a tournament during warm up so it's not full speed. To me it looks like she is rolling her hand over and not whipping / snapping her wrist. Please let me know what you guys see...Also is someone could slow down the clip it would be helpful

Its going to take some time to develop new muscle memory. In HE, its mostly muscling the ball where in IR its more timing, rhythm, and front side resistance. Be patient and keep it up. She'll get there soon enough.

Tough to tell due to the quality of the video, but it appears she is getting some whip.

There should not be any focus on wrist snap. If this is something she is being told to do, it could be slowing her down. Keeps the lower arm/hand as loose and limp as possible to allow for whip to occur. Whip can't be made to happen. The muscles in the forearm just can't compete with physics...

Do you have any video from the front/back?

Like mentioned above, it is a bit tough to tell timing on this video: What I see is a ball release just at the back of the landing leg.....this would indicate that she is not getting good brush interference of forearm/right thigh; the release should be much earlier......the brush interference helps with the Internal Rotaton and the transfer of energy into the fingers. It appears she is trying to "get her hips out of the way of her arm".......IMO this is a poor teaching technique many instructors use.

She is muscling the ball, for sure. Have her compare it to her overhand throw. Hopefully, she can throw overhand, with ease.

I want to ditto what coach james says about time and patience and learning the difference between muscling and whipping.

I teach at a park next to a HE instructor and while I'm instructing, loose and relaxed, her students are huffing and grunting and powering the ball all over the place. And yes as 9 & 10yr old beginners they throw harder than mine. So it's hard to get mine to understand that they'll throw even harder as the mechanics take shape.

That being said, your DD, notice what Rick Pauly says about the hip and the lack of brush interference. See the deep drag your DD has, not into the ground but back away from her body.... She's keeping her hip open, "out of the way" of the pitch, but notice at release her upper body... she's releasing just behind the back leg but with a big shoulder (upper arm ) push. This clearly pulls her upper body away from her lower body which isn't good for her lower back.
Read some of the thread on upper arm resistance and see if that helps.
And again, keep working at it and patience.
