What is your opinion on the Spin Right Spinner? Is it worth it?

It seems like a logical tool, but from my years of playing a sport with the most training aids know to man (golf) I know what seems logical is no always practical.

Thanks,

:)

I think so. We do not use it very often but it is not very expensive and small enough that it is easy to carry around,

Work great for overhand throwing as well!
I usually incorporate about 25 pitches with it on the rise ball to help them feel the correct positioning of the release. As with any tool, use in moderation. Striped balls are a must too!

I used to be skeptic because the motions/actions required to get good spin with a spinner don't quite match what really happens to spin a softball. However, in the last few years I've found that sometimes the cues used to teach a motion, spin or whatever, benefit from exaggeration or aids like the spinner. As much as I've resisted, I may end up getting one and playing around with it.

My DD has 2 of them and she throws them in her warm ups for drops and change ups.She also spins them with a rise grip every night, usually 20-30 spins a night as she is beginning to work on a riseball. She loves them as it is another tool for her to use other than just a regular ball. She also uses the WORTH 14" ball which she really enjoys.Whatever she needs to keep her interested and progressing I'm all for.

I'm a cheapskate, my DD had one that she got from school but someone walked off it with it and I didn't want to spend the $ on a new one.
I traced the circumference of a softball out onto some scrap wood, cut it out with a jigsaw then wrapped neon orange duct tape all around it. I made two and fancified one up by rolling up a bit of duct tape on opposite edge sides to simulate seams and then finished covering them duct tape. It gave the feeling of having seams on it.

Go down to the hardware store, get some heavy duty 4" wheels, bust the rivet to remove it from the housing and you are in business. Can of pink neon paint for that custom look. Anyone want to start a thread titled Red Neck Softball Aids?

I have come full circle on the Spin-Rite. Not perfect but if they can spin it well they can spin anything.
