OK, so the 10yo that I mentioned had her Tanels on last night. They looked like boats. I don't know if the dad ordered them too big, or not. She was complaining that they are too big. She wanted to take them off. I told her to wear better socks, next time. She had on footies.

So, yes, they appear to need broken in. I have never had that problem with Ringors.

People are funny.

There is always an "I gotta have" label out there.

Once ya take a deep breath and critically evaluate every aspect of the product ya might find that your "gotta have" isn't really providing you the best overall performance.

(Examples : Xeno n durability, Ringor n heaviness,...etc)

My oldie-moldie DD has been through many of the "top" pitching-toe shoe brands. With her size and athleticism she puts them through he!!. Ringor has fine durability but just are cement blocks compared to another pitcher-toe shoe with same durability (Mizuno).

Do the Tanel molded cleats run true to size? Is there a break in time?

I apologize for anyone reading this twice...I posted on another cleat thread also.

I just ordered Ringor Diamond Dynasty cleats for my pitching daughter. The fit is OK, but she says they are very stiff and uncomfortable. She goes through several pair of cleats a year. Two pair of 3N2s fell apart, but she loved the feel of those cleats. Not many durable options out there. She is a quick runner. She is happy with the less expensive Adidas options, but I need to replace them often. I guess I could go with cheaper cleats with Tuff-toe stick-ons, but I would love to find an option that lasts a year.
My daughter wears a size 10 1/2 in her running shoes. Her Tanel Light Turfs and REV-Ds are 10 1/2 and she says she has about a 1/4" from her big toe to the end of the shoe in both. They are true to size. One of the reasons Tanels uses a mesh/leather upper is so there is no break in time.Daughter wore her RPM light turfs right out of the box and her feet never hurt her.I'm expecting her REV -D cleats w/pitching toe will be the same out of the box as they and the RPMs are made with the same mesh/leather uppers.DD is also looking forward to cooler feet this season with the mesh on the shoe.

My daughter ripped through Mizuno's in a single tournament. Teams around here keep issuing them as team cleats. While she's long since corrected the "backwards hip" issues she had with failing to get enough active resistance to prevent a backwards drag foot (Mizuno's do not provide enough toe support along the side of the toe to protect against bad mechanics). . . but ever since the hamburger toe she got having to pitch 2 games beyond a blowout and despite how light the Mizuno's are, she avoids them.

Besides, heavier cleats make them stronger, no?

You are saying your DD blew-out a set of "Mizuno-Womens-9-Spike-Swift-G2-Switch-Metal-Fastpitch-Softball-Cleat" in a single tourney?!?!? Did you have this specific model with the pitching toe?

My DD is almost 6' and 160 and very athletic and she can't get through them in less than 12 months.

Yep, that's the one.

If you look at the pitching toe part of the cleat, she would blow them out just rear of where the pitching toe ended, without fail, in less then 4 games pitched.

Like I said, now that the mechanics are corrected, I'm sure the shoes would hold up fine. I just wanted to warn people that not all pitchers are created equal. Ringors, with the same bad mechanics, held up just fine, she either outgrew or wore the spikes down on those. She still wears ringors.

Gotcha - Ya I would agree that if any pitcher were to go after the perimeter stitching of the pitching toe, as the main contact point to the ground, it will self destruct FAST. Have you guys tried the Ringors though? If you notice the Ringor pitching toe does not travel as far back on the shoe as this Mizuno. In fact the Mizuno toe guard goes a good distance further back than the Ringors. Also the Ringor toe guard protrudes more acting as more of a snow-plow (resisting a smooth drag - which is not that ideal)

In my specific DD's case, where she is still brutal on the inside of the big toe, she does not catch the seam of the toe-guard on the Mizuno BUT will catch it every time with the Ringor. So with my DD the accelerated decay of the seam that affixes the toe-guard is much worse with the Ringor. My DD would develop a split in the shoe, all the way down through the shoe, with the Ringors right at this seam (Dirt n rocks getting in then - very bad).

I guess I am just lucky enough to have DD keep the drag contact squarely in middle of the pitcher toe with the Mizuno's...... So ya, I am sure it is very specific to your pitchers style of toe drag.
