On the issue of when to push the button on the Classic Pocket Radar; the best thing to do is watch the front foot. It is moving much slower than the arm. If you TAP the red button like the spacebar on a computer just as the pitcher plants their front foot it will get the release speed right out of the hand. I will look into changing the web-site because "right before the ball starts to move" is a little too ambiguous.

Let me know if anyone has any questions or wants more details on what it is doing and how the triggering works on the Classic model.

Please let me know if there is ever anything at all I can do to help with any questions or issues.

I just received my new Pocket Radar (Ball Coach model). Prior to purchase, and based on Chris's posts, I emailed him requesting a promo/coupon code, which he promptly provided. I went through the entire checkout process and missed where to enter the promo code. My order went through without the promo discount. I emailed Chris and he immediately credited my paypal account. It is nice to do business with a company who's leadership is so very focused on the customer experience and customer support. Thanks Chris.

I have an original model. I tested the accuracy using certified tuning forks used to verify a radar's accuracy. My unit was right on with the speeds on the forks matching what the radar was showing.

I wish I would've seen this thread earlier. I bought the original and haven't used it much but I've never had any issues with it. The upgrade does sound interesting though. In Frozen Rope's demo it looks like the radar is off to the side and at an angle. Does the upgrade allow it to be accurate at an angle?

I have the ball coach model and love it. I just don't think I could effectively use the version I would have to activate.

I use it in many sitations
1. My 8 year old was consistently throwing slower in games, she insisted she was not, but the radar does not lie, I don't even care if it is accurate (it is, it measures dead on with the expensive radar at her training facility) but I was able to measure and prove that she was indeed throwing slower in games (because dad's word is not good enough)
2. We started playing point games, she gets points for outs (strikeouts or field outs) and I get point for walks, and winner picks dinner. If she throws a strike but its slow (the threshold gets raised as she is getting better), she gets a chance to field the ball for an out, but if she misses, it counts as a hit. So the radar determines whether the strike gets hit or not. We have a lot of fun with it.

Since I catch for her, I couldn't do it if I had to activate it, but if you use yours differently the original model will probably work.

I have a discount code if anyone is interested in purchasing, email me at aggie_98_m@yahoo.com and I can give you the discount code.

Radar's are never really accurate at an angle, It is not really possible for a single emitter radar to really measure velocity at an angle without a lot more inputs, without getting in the physics of doppler shift, you really need to be in line with what you intend to measure.
