That is NFHS official position, it is an approved drying agent.

IMO, it doesn't seem very efficient for NFHS to make their position known by having to respond to individual umpire inquiries.

Comp - does it meet your definition of a drying agent? IMO, its a grip aid, but I'm not against its use

Ok board members lets get this straight, its ASA approved, found it in the rule book, and easy to print. Its approved for NFHS and USSSA big problem is I cant find it anywhere in their rulebooks where is actually is written that gorilla gold is approved for these and any other organizations that run fastpitch.

I was prepared last week for a a triple crown tournament, but this week dd has her last fall tournament in Long Island its Usssa sanctioned.

Cant find any specific rule on gorilla gold.

Could not find it in the rules. FWIW USSSA sells it on their website:

Gorilla Gold Grip Enhancer | USSSA Baseball

ADDED: Not only does USSSA sell it online, Gorilla Gold is an Official USSSA Sponsor. :)

FWIW DD was NOT allowed by NFHS-trained umpires to use it this past HS season (Feb-May 2014) in San Diego.

Sounds like although supposedly trained the training was inadequate. I have been fighting this for over a year now and it really helps to get ahead of the issue. Which is why I have a conversation with the UIC well before we take the field. That way if there is any education that needs to be done it can flow down to all of the umpires.

My post included a copy of an email from NFHS. Forward it to your athletic association for distribution and training of the umpires and give a copy to the coach to show the umpires.

I will be umpiring HS in 2015 so I will make sure to take the materials to the first meeting in January.
