Something I came across today. I use an old school Sony and software to slow it down. Not the best resolution but works and I can show the girls what I am seeing. Not endorsing this just and observation that it looks like something that would work well.
Sony HDR-AS20 HD POV Action Cam HDRAS20/B B&H Photo Video

Many of our customers use that camera with our bracket. But due to the tripod mount location, the adapter model is required.

I bought a used Kodak Playsport on Ebay for $35 and it works great and comes with software for editing that I used to piece together my DD's skills video. It has a mounting hole for use with a tripod, is smaller than most cell phones, and since it was so cheap I will set it up in front of my DD hitting because if she breaks it I am only out $35, not $350.

Picked up a Sony hdr-100av. Sorta like a go pro... but better, IMO. It shoots really nice video indoors, in comparison. 60, 120, and 240 fps. No viewfinder... so that's sorta odd at first. Also uses wide-angle with a bit of barrel distortion, but defishr takes care of that in a click. Just thought I'd share, I'll post some video a little later. Anyone get any other goodies?

all the slow motion I post on here are with go pro hero3 black edition if I have very good lighting I use 240 fps most of them are recorded at 120 fps then converted down to 23 fps but is will record 720p at 120 fps

I was bad this year :( I'm trying to compile a free editor using my (much better) native files, for clips to mark up and only saving 10% or less of the original clips I save...all with out rendering.
I'm going to be good, and get 4k

Here's a gif I made... taken with the Sony HDR100AV. I'm poor on bandwidth, so I had to shrink it, dither it, gloss it, and then gif it... so the grain you see is not from the camera, but from my efforts in reducing the size of the file.

The indoor facility this was shot in does have some perimeter windows up top... but I like the color depth and brightness of this camera a lot, especially at 240fps. For only $200 (also $200 less than the GoPro), it's pretty useful. The lower fps video is super crisp, too... and even brighter (obviously). I'm sure this camera has limitations, but not bad... all things considered.

What is the distance from the tripod mount to the end of the lens? These sony cameras are becoming quite active in our customer base. If the distance is semi-short, we might modify the size of our standard plate so customers don't have to buy the adapter model.

Java just beware of fluorescent lighting it is a killer for high fps shutter speeds the frequency of the lighting can distort the video at high shutter speeds.

The higher the fps the more need for bright natural lighting
