Hey CoachFP I do a knuckle rise and curve. Is that the way you throw the ball? Have you ever heard of the New Zealand Rise?

I was taught by Fireball Warren one of the greatest pitchers of all time who was one of Cleveland's best.

terminal velocity and revolutions. The guy I work with here in Indianapolis is a world class pitcher whose revolutions was measured at 40+ and threw one of the greatest rise balls I have even seen in the 50 years of I have played fastpitch. He is 63 and has recently been clocked at 73 !

I have never heard of the New Zealand rise. Sounds like a joke. I played with and against Ty Stofflet who had one of the best riseballs ever. Darren Zack also had a great one. It doesn't matter how I throw mine.

Palm down seems to be way better to me. i do play mens fastpitch so the speed is basically there with any grip enough to make it do something but when i first started learning to make my pitches move i threw a curve almost every pitch just at different speeds. palm up is about 5mph slower then palm down with me but it seems to have a later break.

Clay,
Any chance you can post a video of the release and spin? I've tried palm in(down) off and on for some time with no luck. However, I run into kids that have natural drop curve spin. I keep meaning to shoot video of them, but it keeps getting put off...

BTW--Welcome to DFP. Hope to hear more about your experience.
