55mph with great movement is better than 65mph on a level plane

You have to have both. The slower pitchers will eventally get ripped, it is only a matter of time and what team. No surpise the pitchers in the College World Series Championship were two of the hardest throwers in the country (Alabama and Oklahoma). Must have movement, must have speed.

Absolutely true.

Speed AND movement. They are not exclusive to one another. At times, I read comments that seem to believe they are.

Fact stats are .5% of high school senior baseball players will play MLB. I'd guess .001 will ever pitch in MLB.

So when we compare the top .001 pitchers in fastpitch to the majority, it's not really a fair comparison.

Did you compare your speeds with a known speed pitcher from behind the fence? I've never had luck using my pocket radar through the fence.

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying I'd rather have the 55 over the 65... but I believe their needs to be more emphasis on movement than speed alone. But your right, to have both is ideal.

I have another "issue" with my pocket radar.

It appears to be site-specific.

Meaning it will offset 3-4 mph based on the environment I am in.

In DD's PC basement small tunnel she will be 4mph on average slower than when DD pitches in the big open gym at her HS.

PC Tunnel is abrasive concrete with rubber and HS gym is basketball floor with duct-taped rubber.

Anyone seeing anything similar?

I wonder if the pocket radar software is sooo complex that this is a potential result (affected by room type).

Of course I can't wait to get it outside but all this friggin snow would have to melt first!!!!!

Our facility is a steel building and I have trouble with mine. I can shoot at nothing and get 17 MPH all day long. Pitches will get really weird readings sometimes. 3 then 76 then 12......

I was using it through the fence but I was only 10 ft behind the catcher on these fields and making sure I was shooting through the links. Mine has been very consistent in-doors and out. I have compared it side by side with a Juggs gun and it was the same.
