I was wondering if anyone knew any good pitching games the girls could play while at pitching practice. Just trying to keep it fun for them.

We play horse... just like in basketball.
I have a strike zone painted on the wall but you could use a pitchback. Set up a tee with a ball on it in front of the wall. Pitcher calls her shot (low & in etc... and adjust the tee accordingly) and if she hits the ball off the tee, the other pitchers have to match it... if they miss they get a letter. we will mix up it up each round with different pitches. Round one is a fb, round two is a cu, round three is a drop etc. And the winner gets to "start" the live bp at the end of practice.

We play 24.

There are three rounds. Each round has you can get up to 8 points.

You pitch to the corners, low inside, high inside, high outside, low outside... that constitutes one round.

You get two points if you hit your spot dead on. You get 1 point if you are on the right horizontal plane. You get 1 point if you are on the right vertical plane. No points are awarded if you miss both your horizontal and vertical target.

When we went to Gators camp, they had a ball on a tee and had the girls knock the ball of the tee. They have to hit just the ball, they could not get the girls out of that station.

I incorporate one little bit extra into the "hit the ball" game. (which we love)

Since DD spends all her spare time doing SB she is many time griping that she does not have any spare pocket change for those times with her friends at the mall etc. (compared to her brothers that work and are rich compared to her)

I have turned it into "her job".

In our pitching work-outs she gets chances to make $$ by hitting the ball off the tee or hitting it on the ground (based on the pitch).

By keeping it low monies per ball hit she can get just enough to do these activities with here friends with her own earned money.

This seems to be teaching allot of good. (But I have had to reduce the ball-hit win $ a couple times now :) )

The size of the ball varies on the skill of the pitcher. Start with a volleyball or basketball and move down to a baseball.

When you have a team and multiple pitchers and catchers, you can play a variation of the horse or pig where the catcher calls a pitch, and the pitcher has to hit their spot with that pitch or they get a letter. Last one standing wins. Catcher calls balls and strikes. I like the randomness of the pitch calling.

We do this with the rest of the team jeering and heckling the pitchers (cleanly) with the coaches spouting all kinds of silly coach advise (same as most coaches do in games) as a mental exercise so the pitchers learn how to tune out distractions and practice good self-talk and breathing.
