One of the things that makes the flip effective is that the elbow is IR'd very early which takes a lot of whip out of the release. A shove change, horseshoe, circle and any other change will be more effective if you can think about getting the hand in front of the elbow, or elbow behind the hand at release. Pushing with the elbow instead of pulling.

Hey its January 8th... don't have enough time for moving outside of her confidence. As this thread is showing lots of options. Keep working on the back flip...It will make a great pitch for her skilz video. That just gave you 4 years to perfect that one. Don't try implementing when schedules are in print. You got to build on what she is best at. Have her practice her back flip only in the five warm ups when inning starts... throw every other one. Start with the drop-BF-drop-BF-drop. That should be enough to keep her working on it... just not wanting to look bad.

I assume she can throw the ball straight across the plate 90% of the time, even though she isn't allowed to anymore. If not, get to that point, where she can with her hardest throws. But even if she can't ....take her out tonight, and tell her to throw it to the glove, and hold the glove dead center of the zone...bulls eye. Have her do it 10 times... if she can at least 5/10...(min. reg.) Now Show her How to hold How's "Flat Finger Knuckle Ball" http://www.discussfastpitch.com/softball-pitching/6266-model-grips.html#post65920

Bet her that she can't throw bulls eyes holding it like that... Once she sees it dance... and realizes that it won't never go straight she will CHANGE...& UP on her list you go... Now just tell her thats Her CU. Make sure the ball is back against the palm, and fingers cuped behind the seam... don't even touch the seams. Have her throw into the wind, and with the wind. Tell her the ball has a mind of its own, and it will do what she needs, when it desires. Put the pressure on the ball, and off her. Thats what a breaking pitch is supposed to be. A break for the Pitcher. Have a older ball to start, then a break out a good one, she'll only want to throw with bran new ones ...like in the games... She will trust the Ball ...

Now she can start learning all the When too's and To who's and all the other stuff she'll need. Make sure she's not letting anyone see how she is holding it ect.... Start on that tomorrow night.

"This Game is Easy" ~Tim Smith

EP: See to it that the winning pitcher gets to keep one of the game balls... best way to get the stock she'll be needing

DD has very good CU and she throws it just like her fastball but ball is all the way back into palm and all fingers wrapped around it with extra pressure applied by the thumb and little finger like the are trying to keep the ball in the hand as the others release it. At the point of release the hand almost acts as if you are scooping water at someone while you are standing in a pool. Very IR oriented motion.
