Pat her on the back, hug her and tell her how proud of her you are, tell her the team wins and losses as a team no one person loses a game. As long as she gave her best she needs to be proud of herself.

I've seen it happen with my DD walking a batter sometimes they loose focus and it takes a batter or two to get it back.

Sounds to me like she has good stuff to build on for next year.

Thanks for all the great advice! I think she has put it aside for now, but those of you who said the coach lost the game really hit the nail on the head. When we talk about it in the future, I will remind her of the position she was put in that was not of her making and, despite it all, she did a great job.

I have told her several times afterward that win or lose i couldn't be more proud. Even the other coach and the players on the other team came over to her after the game to tell her that she pitched a great game.

The best thing a pitcher can do is have a 'next pitch' mentality. The least important pitch was the last one, and the most important pitch is the next one!
