I know my DD is NOT being taught to push the ball, she is definitely being taught to roll off the fingers. I/R - I don't know. I feel like she is exploding with her left hip, ball to 2nd, release at the hip, close hip, finish figure four. Obviously, without video, all of that is moot, but I don't feel like what she's being taught is bad - just want to feel like it's not the "right way". I don't want my pitchers out there at 15 and some PC walk up and say, you're doing it wrong.

To add to this, I don't think she actually turns the ball to 2nd when pitching - whether right or wrong, I think she leaves it forward. But she was taught to turn it.

I see it board member, the IR method you mentioned, if you stop it at the 43 second mark, it is there. Regarding the Jenny Finch video.

When Jenny is doing an instructional video or teaching a class, she says and shows HE. As soon as Jenny is in a game, she uses IR.

I think Amanda S. would fall under that category as well. I still really like her instructional videos, though. She's a good teacher, IMHO.

JF's picture is up on the college wall with HE, and there are videos of her pitching when younger, so she does it more than you think. She did throw HE for a fastball, demonstration and warm up, regularly.

To me, if you look at the slow mo, it looks like both Jenny and Amanda go across the body after release, then bring their hand back up to their pitching shoulder, almost as an afterthought.

Jenny and Amanda aren't hello elbow pitchers.

As I see it, the "hello elbow" pitching style is more of a bowling style of pitching where the palm orientation at 9:00 (straight back) is down rather than up, and is what GENERALLY results in a hello elbow finish. If the palm orientation is up at 9:00 going into release, and the pitcher just lets her are and hand go where they want to (like a loose noodle) after release, it won't do the hello elbow finish.

You are exactly correct with the point being that somewhere along the way, they both adjusted the important phases of their mechanics yet continued with the HE finish, even though the HE finish is actually superfluous.
