Red face Landing on a stiff front leg

Hi folks - need a little advice on drills to help one of our girls that is all upper body. She swings the bat as hard as anybody on our team but lands with her front leg locked, which creates some issues with an uppercut and an inability to hit any kind of drop ball. Any suggestions on drills would be helpful.

I would think she lands on all 5 toes and an open foot. Her throwing mechanics are probably off.
I would work on her throwing mechanics. Bent knee when landing and getting her weight shift off the back side.

Howard (hitter) has posted articles on teaching throwing mechanics.
SBFamily is good at explaining it too!!

Ask her after a game does her arm and shoulder become sore?

Would think her ability to handle a CU would be shot as well.

The Herschiser drill (for pitching) will cure this problem. It's impossible to land deadlocked (extended front leg) when done correctly.
Adapt it for hitting and practice, practice, practice.

Read rdbass dd swing post. This was one of the things that was posted to fix. Here is how I train my kids. Have them stand with shoes and socks off. Have them step on a flex front leg and land on the big toe. Have them think they can wave the little toe at the pitcher. When I get more time I will post hitters bucket drill . Plus why is is important to keep the weight back and not over the front leg.

Check to see if she is getting into a balanced position when she strides to toe touch, her head should be some what centered between her feet at toe touch. To land on a straight front leg, I would bet she is keeping her head and weight back of center over her rear foot.

Include what others have said about landing on the inside ball of the foot/big toe, with a bent knee.
