I wonder where they got these principles. Keeping your weight that far back doesn't seem to stand up to the Hanson principle. It doesn't seem to be the way the best collegiate hitters actually hit. I happened to be looking through the model swings today and remember seeing something pretty close to that so I went back and found it. Even Angela has her weight more forward than they seem to be recommending in the Alabama clip.
But by and large none of the best hitters hit like this, do they?
The second drill is good, it's basically the step and hit vid with a pause in the hitting drills.
Here is Mendoza showing the similar type thing during this year's WCWS:

I found this posted by rightview1 on YouTube. Has anyone used this drill ? What do you think?

About two years ago I worked a camp with Slaught, Paetkau and Carrier. They use this but they use a box. Howard has it slanted . Also helpful when you are teaching throwing and the correct weight shift.

The Paetkau version of this drill has a 2x6 placed inside of the rear foot and the hitter is instructed to finish with their foot on top of the board.

Can you explain the purpose? Is this what Jen Yee talks about when she wrote about "kicking" as opposed to "bug squishing"? What does this drill/device promote?
