She has been seeing the same hitting instructor all along (one session per week). Since the green shirt video, the main change he's made is widening her stance. As I mentioned, she was hitting great through most of the season, but hit markedly worse in the final 2 tournaments, which seems is where the mechanics issues appeared.

I understand the issue with swing path rdbass mentions above. This is something we dealt with previously (prior to green shirt video). Using a Zepp, which indicated she was swinging with a negative attack angle, we worked on this until it was corrected (at least as far as Zepp was concerned). I can go this route again, unless there are other issues/suggestions for how to get this corrected.

I don't think just widening the stance will solve anything.

She had a nice coil going on in the green shirt - and this will help the swing plane go from A to C to more down to and up through. Using the Zepp may have improved the coil with an end result in mind wrt the attack angle. Hard to say what influenced what, but since you mentioned the Zepp - I would go back to that and see what it does.

I would let the hands even react more to the move below (meaning let them come down more) and they will learn to come back up in time.

Still think the swing in green was on the right path.

What has she been instructed to do since then?

I'm a 'turn the barrel forward to the ball' right now and the orange shirt seems to do this sooner and close to behind a 'corner'. Green shirt barrel is turned beside her and near out front. I think the problem is that when the turning of the barrel 'goes' so does the whole upper body. This hitter need to learn to 'stay back' and let the barrel go to the ball. Let's get the tee moved a little closer towards the catcher and in towards the batter first. Also can you make a plate and put it down so, the batter has a 'clue' of where to stand and will help with proper tee placement.

Serious question - is the bat being wrapped contributing to the look of turning right now?

I wouldn't consider this 'bat wrap'. I would prefer the bat to be more vertical than it is but, that just my style. If the hand set was lower and the bat was flatter then she might be considered wrapping the bat. So, serious answer is no. As everyone has comment if the tee was moved closer (and I also would like the tee moved in towards the hitter) then maybe 'we' can all get to see what the hitter has to work on.

buttermaker / rdbass,

I think I see where you are both going here.... Personally I prefer the green shirt swing because I think she does a better job of using her body in general. But if I specifically focus on watching the hands I get the impression of a "hands to the ball" type mentality. I do think her hands begin to turn quicker with the red shirt swing, but I also think that is helped by the way she is holding the bat with that swing. In any event, she looks like a student that takes instruction well, and is able to adapt quickly. My focus would be working on the overall sequence and seeing where that takes her. I realize there are some here that are not Stone fans, but I am a fan of the drill he uses in that video I posted, provided the student is careful with their weight distribution and transfer.

FP - I like the green swing because there is some nice coil going on. But, in this swing her hands race to the ball as she uncoils/spins.

The hands/barrel do a nice job not getting trapped in the shoulders

A little tweaking and you might just have something really good.

First thing I would tell her is to try and NOT uncoil.

Thanks guys, really appreciate all of the attention and feedback. DD took a hard shot to the wrist while pitching in practice yesterday, so it might be a couple of days before we're ready to follow up with a new video with the tee more properly placed, with some soft toss thrown in as well. Thanks!
