Thanks guys, really appreciate all the great feed back. Unfortunately, the double load is what she does in games. She also does it when we do front toss unless we constantly remind her to focus on avoiding it. I'm hoping that getting separation will help correct this. Interestingly, she never double loads on the tee.

Missed this...your last sentence...she never double loads on the tee. How does she stride on the tee, early/pause/swing or as a connected part of her swing sequence. Poorly worded...hopefully you get the question.

This is her on the tee

Interesting. I'm not as technical as some others, so I'm sure there is more to work on...but I would start with getting rid of the double load. I was a bit off base referring to a double stride...she didn't step in the game swing on the first load. I don't think the hand separation or sequencing looks too bad on the tee swings...I would suggest, these things look worse in the original video because of the double load. So, my suspicion is that you haven't found the right language to get her to understand what she is doing with the double load. Sometimes what you say to one person doesn't click with another...sometimes two different players will hear the same coaching and take it completely differently. So...you may need to rephrase things for her to get it...I would say, when her hand separation and stride/toe touch are happening at the same time (as they should) the swing looks pretty good. She does it nicely on the tee...progress to easy soft toss...easy front toss...harder front toss...focusing on keeping the same rhythm with the hand separation and stride paired together. Also...based on the live swing, I get the sense she wants to start too early...so it will take a lot of repetitions for her to feel the timing. One last thought...in the live shot and the first tee swing, she is making contact pretty far out front...she has to reach out, pulling the head and shoulders farther forward, altering her bat path, and likely making contact at a weaker part of her swing. Look at the tee swings...she is maybe 6 inches closer on the second swing and I feel like her contact point and upper body positioning are better...so is the bat path. Be careful about tee placement...you are creating muscle memory...if you create muscle memory of a lunging out front swing, that is what you are likely to see.

I'm going to second the tee placement comment...not sooooo far out front.

I don't think I am buying into the double load talk...the live shoot I think it was just a function of the pitch and trying to adjust maybe someone can enlighten me

On the tee swings I really like her initial load from the time her foot goes up until it reaches its highest point and before it starts to come down (still below). What she needs to understand is that as her foot begins to come down she needs to continue back or at the very least hold her load (see gif link, http://www.discussfastpitch.com/softball-hitting-technical/29637-needing-some-help-10u-swing.html#post409236gotta learn how to copy that gif) so that her upper half maintains this posture as her foot lands and she ends up here (second still).

I like the "holding the load" comment, makes sense. The "double load talk" came from her dad...does it in games, not on the tee.

Ideally her sequence will get a little better and that moment of hold will be almost undetectable but she needs to feel her front foot touching the ground while her hands and hips are still back, basically wound up ready to unload.

Good luck - not gonna argue w the more vocal contingent on this board, but her game swing has the "good" that it so hard to put back in a swing after it has been sterilized

It's her tee swing that has lots of "good". Again I think the live swing was deceiving because it was slow and low causing the double clutch and dropping the hands down and reaching. It not about being vocal if there is something you want to point out that is good about the swing and that she needs to keep doing please speak up; nobody is trying to sterilize her swing we want her swing to be the best swing it can be and it can always be beneficial to get different points of view, emphasis and cues since everyone does not learn the same...I am a big believer that there few absolutes in hitting but pause Sportscenter or Baseball tonight and take a picture of every player at this position at my guess is if you over laid them they would almost all overlap each other.
