How do I teach DD to keep her hands back while turning the barrel?

Base on what I have read as the back elbow starts to drop you want your hands to stay back as you start to turn the barrel. How can I explain this to DD. Is there an easy way to teach this? I think by the elbow dropping it turns the hands. Tweks mentions in one of his video about Puljos. When Puljos back elbow comes down that his hands go up, is this the key? Hopefully, this makes sense. Help!

Thanks

Just saw this video by Swingbuilder. He is saying to drop the barrel behind you as you turn the barrel. Is this b/c as you drop your back elbow and barrel behind you then as the back hip turns it put the barrel in the position it needs to be? Which now puts the barrel heading towards the catcher. Is this the move I need to teach DD?

Thanks

Just focus on creating change in direction with the barrel using the hands and the core. Don't think or worry about the rear leg/hip.. Allow the legs to be the supporter of the change in direction.

TDS. Isn't the knob going forward as he is turning in the video? What about the stretch?

The whole body is stretching.. The knobs going forward as part of the body and hands whipping the barrel.. Allow the body/hands to be synced with the barrels change of direction.

Not sure I understand your question. You don't want the hands to 'stay back' THEN 'turn the barrel towards the ball'.

It's not turn the barrel THEN go forward towards the ball. It's turn the barrel AS/AND you go forward towards the ball.

Maybe you are asking about the 'missing frames/stretch' that has the lower body(unloading) going as the upper continues(load) to 'load/stretch/loading in the unload'.

Thanks for that RDB. I was under the impression that the barrel was turned and then the hands move forward or it would be considered a push. I read a lot about the hands moving forward before the barrel is turned. Seems some should phrase it as the hands moving forward without starting to turn the barrel. My lack of understanding this might be causing my DD to DBSF?

Donny: The top hand “is NOT just along for the ride” but the top hand doesn’t pull forward to the ball initially.

Observe the top hand movement relative to the rear shoulder.

Why would you drop the barrel behind you before you know where the ball is? how can you steer the barrel with your rear hip? The barrel drop or "angle" is totally dependent on the pitch height.
I do like the thought of the barrel dropping towards the catcher, as opposed to the drop barrel behind you thought. This whole "push thing has gotton out of hand and is being misinterpreted, the hands/arms must move /extend to give the barrel room to work properly.
