All feedback is appreciated. She has been steadily improving, she's been hitting with more power and more line drives. Her main problem right now is being too early, she gets out in front. I just wanted to get some feedback on her current swing to make sure she's in the right track. Thanks again

looks like a solid hitter to me! But I don't hang out in the hitting room nearly enough and learning myself. With that said, and not hijacking your post but hoping to learn too if you don't mind jsoftballcoach :D We have been working very hard on my DD's batting and not getting out in front which one of her main problems. On thing I notice on your DD (please know I am not saying this is right or wrong and simply asking the experts) it appears to me that her head doesn't move much on either video. In other words it looks like she sees the ball very well out of the pitchers hand and while it travels right up to the point where she hits it out front as you state. I would think (comments appreciated here) that as the ball travels further in she would need to rotate her head somewhat in if she wanted to see it then hit it "in" versus "out front". Kinda like those times when the coach says don't swing and just watch it all the way to the catchers glove. The head would have to rotate some so the eyes could see it as it travels further.

Again, not giving advice on this but hoping to get the experts feedback. Also, without slo-mo I have found that I don't really see anything that clearly anymore:(

When I say she is early and out front I just mean that she is starting her swing too early (not in these clips) and will hit it into the ground. If she would wait a bit, the contact point would be closer to her body without her arms getting too far extended and would result in a harder hit ball.

I'll let the real technical guys chime in but after looking at her live swing I think she is not getting the best load/coil she can. She start with toe tap and foot out but it's not load bearing at all. So she is now basically holding in an all back position for a second, then (and I saw it in BP swing as well) when her swing starts it looks like she just pivots her back foot on her toe. I'll let other chime in if they see the same thing. There is a real good video out there on helping getting better at coil/load push from the back side I'll see if I can find it and link to it.

Hmm, I find that with a really good bat path, that early would result in a steeper trajectory, and being late, would create driving the ball hard into the ground.

I think being early would drive the ball into the ground and being late would top the ball if the hitter hit the top of the ball.

Looking good, so what to work on then? IMO, show her how to get into a stronger load position. Right now she rushes her load to get to the ball. So:

1) A few cues to play with: Load her hands with her body. She will end up with a slightly higher handset at go, loaded by her body (not by lifting her hands). Rear shoulder will get higher than front shoulder at load. She should feel stretch/activation of muscles in her back. She might want to feel like she's "jutting" her elbow at load. Point the knob of bat to the catcher at load.

Those moves will take slightly more time, so:

2) Have her think and learn how to be early and slow. Dance with the pitcher (my guess is she's hitting against a machine, which is why she feels like she has to be quick to the ball, she doesn't have much to time). Don't rush it.

None of these things have to be forced or drastic changes. Show her some things let her play around with them and own her swing.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, what do you mean by load her hands with her body?

We do more front toss than machine work, still can't figure out why she tends to be early
