Not here.

Question: were the 2 poles lined up one in front of the other.
If they were, your DD is now swinging to the side of the back pole. This is now causing your DD to swing at the front tee as if it was an outside pitch. Not the bat path I would like to see nor body positions I would like to see on an outside pitch.
Criticism without a solution is just criticism!
Opps, I'm guilty of that also. So, I'll bail also.

Yeah....I'm done here.

Stickpile- I will send you the PM I mentioned with before/after clips and clips of the drills sometime this weekend. if anyone chimes in that can show their work then pay attention to it, if they only post clips of your kid compared to MLB swings they are probably just blowing smoke and have never really tried to tackle this issue.

That's clearly not true .... but true to form for someone wishing to maintain an argumentative position.

Let's keep to the topic of hitting instead.

I'm not a fan of this drill ... but inducing an inside/out swing is a good thing.

I see no recommendation of what she needs to do from you either. I just see critiques. So in your opinion what does this athlete need to do to stop the dropping and lowering the hands to the ball? Criticism without a solution is just criticism!

She has actually made the correction ... but out of sequence ... and hence the fix won't help, beyond giving her the feel of hand/forearm activation.

Sequence rules. Attempts to make corrections that put you out of sequence don't stick and won't be carried into one's game swing.

She needs to get the sequence correct, and seek this solution within a proper sequence.

As in get the lower half ahead of the hands?

The hand path in this tee swing is better than in her game swing ..... but it is out of sequence, and will fail in the batter's box ... she will not be able to feel the slingshot-ing of the barrel forward, but instead will be an "all arms" swinger.

Great discussion. FFS, so Yes I/we know the knee needs to fire first, while the hands are still back. Thank you for pointing this out. The gifs are helpful.

This high rear tee drill is just him trying to fix the DBSF it doesn't show her actual swing. That game footage is her natural swing.
Stickpile-do you ever do the "ball drop" drill? Where she gets loaded and you hold a ball about as high as her head and just drop it for her to hit? It can be very revealing in separating "swing" issues from "load" issues.

no sir, what am I looking for here?

Stickpile- I have some before and during clips of my kid along with a drill program we are using. she still hasn't transitioned it to games but it really feels like it is on the edge of coming through. I will PM it to you when I get a chance this weekend. also Eric's DD Maddie has come a long way in fixing this issue so maybe he can contribute some real world advice.

Yes, thank you. I love reading about Maddie. Eric is great! Very helpful

Stick - As you and I have discussed, and has been mentioned in this thread, the timing of her hands in relation to her body movements is out of sequence. I think this is a step closer than she has been in the past, but she's not quite there yet. IMO, she still feels the swing as a hands/shoulders event, and they remain the driver for her swing. I like the position her hands and rear arm get into before launch, but the timing of it is too soon, and her hands are getting started forward before the resistance/tension from her rear hip reaches her hands. Her hands should be pulling back against the rear hip turning forward. Right now, there is too much of everything turning forward together (my DD has the same issue).

Starting from a low handset, and pulling up to the launch position is a worthwhile experiment to see how/if she changes things. On her game swings, the high starting handset is probably contributing to her DBSF tendencies.

Keep working on getting her to feel the rear hip and knee leading the hands. REALLY exaggerate it until the dots connect in her head. Slo-mo (matrix) type drills and SNF may both be helpful.

For the purposes of helping a hitter feel how to attack from inside the ball, I don't hate the drill in the video, as long as it is instructed with a specific purpose.

Keep at it, Stick. She's young. The road ahead is long...
