Level swing???

My DD's swing off the Tee looks really good. Short to the ball with good tilt and slightly uppercut swing. When it comes to hitting off coach pitch she has a tendency of swinging ver level or even slightly down. Bat not being in the ball path very long. I tell her I want a slightly upper cut swing, but just stays level. High pitches she hits really good, but waist or lower usually is chopped downward. Hand path stays short, but shoulders tend to stay level. Any tips or drills to get the bat in the zone longer. ?

Some will disagree, but I can't stand the "hands to the ball" harp. I think it results in them taking their hands down too far and leading to a chop-down-through-the-ball type swing. I prefer telling them to take their hands toward the pitcher, but not early.

Also, in a batting cage, let her swing and throw her bat aiming for center field. If she swings right, the bat will travel like a helicopter blade and would make it to center field without hitting the infield dirt. This seems to get them to swing on the path of the pitch. Of course, have her use an old bat to do this.

I think Doug could be onto something with your DD. Video her on live pitching and see if she is reaching towards the ball with her hands

I started using a more direct barrel to the ball, and half just nod and drop their hands.

For me, on the lower pitches, she is taking her hands down too much. Of course, you won't see that problem when she's swinging at high pitches. I like to even refer to them "golfing" a few low inside pitches to get the idea that it is the sweat-spot of the barrel that they should take to the ball, not the hands.

I love her swagger!

I was thinking the same thing. How low have you tried to place the tee? I would try starting off and ending tee-hitting practice with the tee at knee level and get her to focus on the swing plane you want.

With the 2-part Easton type tee I rarely even use the extension. IME, if they learn to hit with the tilt required for low pitches, they normally don't have any issue adjusting to hitting higher pitches that require less/no tilt.

She spins out on her rear side. The heel should lead the toes after rolling onto the instep.

In her first move, she drops the bat-head quite a bit. That might cause the swing path issue.

Wish I knew how to slow it down

Most computers have free video editing software. "Movie Maker" is the free Windows version. Slo-Mo hides some things, so I like to triple the video and go full speed, slo mo, full speed.

Movie Maker also makes it really easy to go frame-by-frame to break down videos.
