    Default Face the Fire Drill

Here is a video of the Face the Fire drill I made out of a series of still photos. As a bonus, Samantha is also demonstrating the reverse top hand grip on the bat. This was Sammy's first formal hitting lesson and she had a great time!

I want to point out that one thing we do differently now is perform the crossover step in front of, and not behind, the left foot.

    Stupid question.

What is the logic of the reverse top hand grip?

I ask because I don't see how it can do anything other than push.

I second that. Very interested to understand the application of the Reverse Grip

I believe its a grip used to do drills to make sure you're using your bottom hand affectively

I would hardly qualify any question you could ask as stupid.

I will offer three reasons one might use this drill:

    1) It isolates the lead arm, but still allows the hitter to use a fully weighted bat. (Good lead hand path)

    2) It is virtually impossible for a bat dragger to swing with both elbows out in front of the hands. (Slot the back elbow)

    3) Provides instant feedback to a hitter who casts. It is unlikely the hitter will be able to cast while using this grip. (Maintain connection)

    Interesting, thanks.

    I'll play around with it.

    Default Great Drill

We use the face and fire drill as part of our hitting workout. What i like about this drill is that the hitter gets the feel of going to a negative move to a positive move and feeling the momentum of the swing. Its the same as the botte of water flowing back to foreward. And yes i learned this drill from Howard Carrier.
