I am curious as to how many of you teach this style of hitting as to the "power hitting(driving the legs)". I have inserted some videos of the technique I am referring to. It appears the girls are rotating their hips and snapping their wrist. They get great power. But not a lot of leg drive. It sure goes against what the big league girls are doing, rotating their hips and driving with their legs. Is this something all coaches should teach? It makes a lot practical sense. If they square to bunt and the defense doesn't come in they hit away using this method or bunt if the defense does come in.

Is there any coached out that teach this, I would like to hear from and possibly PM. I hope to get a lot of expert opinion.

I apologize if the videos aren't that clear. If you have a hard time seeing them please let me know. I could only insert one video. If anyone can give me some advice on inserting video I would appreciate it.

I should add that this team in the last 4 years have a combined record of 111-4. with 3 state championships.

Are you saying that all their hitters bat like this, and it's a reason for their success? That this program is teaching this style? Or is this one batter?

Fastpitch remains a relatively young sport and it's not entirely like baseball (bigger balls, slower pitch speeds, smaller playing field). It's certainly possible that a new style of hitting could be discovered that produces higher batting averages than anyone could've imagined.

But in this case, I doubt it.

One thing is for sure - She is sacrificing a lot of power.

JMO looks like the swing I would see when the pitching distance was 40 feet and players were just trying to make contact and put the ball in play.

The back foot heel barley gets off the ground which shows the hips are not being used. IMO it would be difficult to generate much power with the mechanics I see in the video.

I'd be interested in seeing the swings slowed down.....Looks like they are striding and getting a late hand load. The second girl who pulls the ball looks to have her hips/lower body involved.....Having a tough time getting over the 6 inch choke up though!
