I am stopping by and viewing some great swings by young ladies.

I hear the word PUSH, being used by some to describe the swings they are looking at.

I believe the word push. is not always a bad thing, but can be.
ted Williams is quoted as saying the MLS is a hard push swing.

I do not believe the word PUSH, should be used to describe a bad swing, but should be used in context.

Again I will ask, as I have before, what are you saying when YOU, use the word PUSH?

IS EXTENSION in the swing, PUSH to you? I am talking pre contact extension.

ARE YOU PUSHING OR PULLING AS YOU ARE TURNING THE BARREL?

get the top hand through. when you throw a punch, is that a PUSH? when you throw a ball, push? it is not pure whip.

clips of high level, and low level PUSH would be better for me to better get a grasp on this very misused word

I spot a push swing vs a high level swing in .5 seconds of viewing. Problem you and others are having is swing gifs getting clipped into segments and played ultra slow. You mistake the power source of the swing then.
Push or swing with chest is a top down-push forward swing. The confusion with the Decker girl (knew it would happen, but I have promised to live people alone) is she fires the hips then pushes top down. So she has separation, but her upper is pushing past it…NO RESISTANCE! The lower half is useless if you are not going to resist and let it launch the swing. Give me a sec, I'll cut up some gifs.

The great hitting young lady is pushing her upper torso past any separation. She gets the separation that young kids do not achieve, but pushing past or muscles past any mechanical advantage.

Springers back and core are continually pulling BACK AGAINST the lower half running start, or as I would say RESISTANCE. When I teach or talk to kids it falls under my #2 of the two parts of a high level swing….."the barrel turn". I teach pull back and resistance as part of a correct barrel turn. #1 of the two parts is hip coil.

More fun to come…..

Romero. Excellent top of Ncaa hitter. Blasting AT the ball with her torso/hands/and barrel (sorry photobucket took the gif and like tripled the speed, but that doesn't effect the feel)

Bustos. The best female hitter (for a couple more years). Torso/hands/ and barrel turn AWAY from the lower half running start. PULLING back against the PULLING of the lower half. UPPER half is LOADING, not muscling at the ball.

IS EXTENSION in the swing, PUSH to you? I am talking pre contact extension. Pre contact extention is happening after the lower half has pulling and whipped the upper half and barrel.

ARE YOU PUSHING OR PULLING AS YOU ARE TURNING THE BARREL? Pulling back against the lower half "RAG WRING"

get the top hand through. when you throw a punch, is that a PUSH? when you throw a ball, push? it is not pure whip.if you throw a jab, that is a push. Throw a knock out punch with a lower half running start, fist at torso being launch by the body's strong muscles, no not push

Mann, see if this description helps. Basically, when some hitters arrive at launch they can have a tendency to use the shoulders & arms too early, and in the process short-circuit the lower body.

Mann,

Does this help give you a visual on RHC's explanation?

Specifically "As shown above. The upper part of the body PUSHING either without a lower half running start or past a lower half running start."

CB, from the link you provided .....

"When I develop a hitter we focus on three things - mechanics, emotion and vision," Steve said. "It's the same with (teaching) Hailey. If I put together a test on hitting, she would ace it."

Steve said the key to good hitters is believing in their swing and being predators.

"Yeah, he says I'm a predator," said Hailey. "I'm sure others have better mechanics, but I'm more mentally prepared because of my dad. He's taught me to know my plan and be mentally tough. We work a lot on seeing the ball. Hitting is an attitude."

It isn't lip service. This kid hits with an 'attitude'.
