He launches BOTH Swing3 and Swing5 identically. His FLOAT....is part of....his LAUNCH MOVEMENT. Not the actual launch....but the LAUNCH MOVE. IT is a slow gradual build up to the actual all in launch. That is clearly seen in the video. However....on the fly....and even during the actual launch....he reads a different pitch location in each. And makes the necessary adjustment. One pitch is low and out. The other is in. To adjust to the in pitch...his REAR LEG....pivots....it pivots THE STILL STRETCHED (EVEN THOUGH IT IS PIVOTING) ASSEMBLY....meaning the hip is still resisting....more open....so that....THE SAME LAUNCHED BARREL PATH for all locations....can be....is bent....turned....into the newly discovered pitch location.

Moving the discussion here since it's kind of a two site discussion and we've certainly cluttered up Mallory's hitting thread enough!

So the above was said by Rich from HI about this clip (counting from the top, so 3 is the middle, and 5 is the bottom):

We have identified "max tip" as being frame 8.
We have identified "launch" as happening from frame 11.
We have identified "contact" as happening between frame 15 and 16.

This discussion is centered on what is happening between frames 8 and 11. The terminology used by Rich is that this is the Launch Movement. So I'm reading carefully here Rich... "IT is a slow gradual build up to the actual all in launch."... so IT, being the Launch Movement, is not the actual launch, and it builds up to the actual all in launch.

So he's reading the pitch out of the hand up through max tip at 8, and he continues to read the pitch during the Launch Movement from 8-11.

So what is happening differently in Miggy during the Launch Movement in the middle clip as compared to the Launch Movement in the bottom clip?

I read closely where you say "To adjust to the in pitch...his REAR LEG....pivots....it pivots THE STILL STRETCHED (EVEN THOUGH IT IS PIVOTING) ASSEMBLY....meaning the hip is still resisting....more open".

Just trying to be clear... are you saying this pivoting difference starts happening during the launch movement? Is this the only action that Miggy is doing differently during the Launch Movements of swing 3 and 5?

Thank you!

Haha.. not quiet.. it's 74 and sunny here today and I was doing volunteer beach cleanup this morning. Then throwing the frisbee around...then eating delicious tacos from a taco truck. But by all means... let's keep talking about the indisputable truth!

Doesn't look like you are getting much action here Noon, so hopefully you won't mind if I ask a question. In reading post #1 above, I believe those comments are a basic description of "one legged hitting". "Pivoting" but still "stretching".... I have trouble grasping that. Is it theoretically possible that this is where the front side comes into play? When I swing, I can feel slight differences in the front side based on pitch location; inside vs. outside. That said, I am not claiming that I personally have a HL swing.

Noon, do you feel this video answers the question in 'red' above?
