Drag Bunt?

Dumb question, but I need to know what a brag bunt is, exactly? In what situations is it used and how do I teach it?
My DD (12U in 2010) is a right batter who normally bunts well, but I am looking to teach her and myself some more options. Thanks

from what i understand a drag bunt is the same as what is known as a "bunt-for-base-hit" or "sneaky bunt". the idea is to bunt at the last second and surprise the defense, especially if the corners are playing back.

if your dd is right handed, you drop the right foot back as your bunting to get in the running position as your bunting and then bunt it down a line or to the pitcher if she is a weak fielder. you don't want to deaden the ball too much like a sacrifice bunt though.

for lefties the footwork is pretty much the same as their regular bunt, but she is at her normal batting position in the box so you don't give away the drag bunt. some coaches consider a drag bunt for a lefty the same as a slap bunt, which means you do a lefty slapper's foot work, but bunt instead of chop or power slap.

also look into slap bunting, slap hitting (both power and chop), fake bunt-slap, and push bunting.

these are the types of bunts that i know of:

sacrifice bunt
suicide bunt
drag bunt (sneaky bunt, bunt for base hit)
push bunt
slap bunt

Pretty much agree with above, except that I would seperate a drag bunt and a sneaky bunt as follows.

Drag bunt - is done using slapper/dragger footwork i.e. moving in the box while bunting

Sneaky Bunt - could be done as a drag or a straight bunt but emphasis is on placement and showing the bat late to try to surprise the defense

Sacrifice Bunt - premium is on getting ball in play, placement in secondary to that, bat is shown early so that defense reacts.

As a coach I want the other team to see the Sacrifice bunt and react, that puts them where I want them to be so that I can move runners. If you're "sneaky" on a sacrifice bunt and trying to move a runner to third you run the risk of leaving F5 near 3b to receive the ball from F1,2,3 and put your lead runner at risk. As the fielding gets better you start to go for that lead out more and more.

The other aspect of these bunts is whether to pull the bat back on a ball. Sacrafice bunts, show early, strikes only.
Bunt for base hit, show late, strikes only.
Bunt-n-run (suicide), show late, any pitched ball.
