I c his coil, running start and his hands turning the barrel (reward). His hands do not start forward.

Bottom gif, is this considered launch? If not what part of the gif from above can u freeze and repost.

There are a couple of girls from dd's team who start like this. But as soon as they start their swing, their back elbow gets sucked in to their side and it leads the hands.

Comes down to the pressure applied by the hands.

At launch you can 'push' the barrel or 'pull' the barrel. IMO a good swing launches the barrel with 'pulls'.

How you 'pull' the barrel from launch makes a huge difference.

You can pull the barrel along the length of the barrel ... and that will lead to the 'bat drag' descriptions you gave. Not what you want.

You can pull the barrel perpendicular to the barrel ALONG the rear forearm .... and that will lead to early extension and casting. This would be an improper way to turn the barrel. Again, not what you want.

You can pull the barrel perpendicular to the barrel AROUND the rear forearm .... and this will lead to a retention of the Vee angle in the rear arm (Power-Vee). This is how the barrel should be turned from launch IMO.

In the above video both hands are working. The top hand is pulling the barrel backwards and around the rear forearm. The pull of the bottom hand is also important .... it's pull is often equated with "finding the ball" ... it's pull will align/level the swing, and result in the JUT that is often described, which is nothing more than the proper formation of structure associated with the bottom hand pulling action.

Extension occurs before contact is made. That is, the Power-Vee relationship from 'launch' to the 'RVP Connection Point Position' will NOT be maintained to 'contact'. Instead the rear arm will lengthen .... extend. This extension is nothing more than a continued pull of the barrel that is now ALONG the rear forearm as opposed to AROUND the rear forearm. That is, the pull continues, but the relationship to the rear forearm transitions. The 'release' through contact is ALONG the rear forearm, not AROUND.

The barrel is first turned AROUND the rear forearm and released ALONG the rear forearm.
