    Default hitting fast pitcher

looking for advice or drills for 10u. the girls load well and early but then freeze on the faster pitching. can't "pull the trigger". the girls hitting the ball not making solid contact. balls going to the pitcher and 2nd base. any ideas are welcomed. we have worked real hard on the tee with loading and getting a sense of timing.

Try the Barry Bonds Drill. Sorry I don't like the name, but here is how it works.
Take the kids and have them hit off a pitching machine at the speed you normally face. Each time they make contact have them take a step toward the pitching machine. They continue to do this till they strike out. Make a game of it , we see how far they can get . If you have time. We reverse it and after they strike out and go backwards. Now you are adjusting the swing to faster piitching. We also have our kids practice a swing close to the plate( Screw Ball) and away from the plate. Curve ball. Have a change up drill, but at 10U. Get thru this first.

This is a drill I like to get players to make that decision.

Set up a row of cones halfway between home and the pitching rubber. Have your pitcher throw pitches to the batters standing in the box. Have your batters call ball or strike by the time the ball passes over the row of cones.

They don't have to be right, just make a decision. Seeing it correctly will come with practice.

Are they not getting the swing started on time? Perhaps you should have them get to toe touch earlier if that's the case.

They may also just be intimidated or uncertain if they can hit it, so they hold back. Try building their confidence and taking the self-generated pressure off.
