The hands get ahead of the elbow to speed up the swing and get the bat out front faster. In that context, it is a great lesson!
If the hands get too far ahead of the elbow, it will slow the swing down, not speed it up.

"the time between wrist cock, and release"
ideally during this time the bat needs to be turning/accelerating about a point between the hands and no deceleration before contact.
this turning not only overcomes any need for "holding torque" (overcoming inertia) but provides resistance and a control point for resistance (educated hands) so the "unload" (if you want to think of bat turning into swing as unloading) becomes the load )-increasing resistance (preventing "casting").
This is ruined by "hinge holding" and delaying the swing by a misconception of what "lag" is.
You speak of this demonstration being how to swing for a high inside pitch, yet in Rdbass's comparison below the video on the top is a swing at a high inside pitch, and it doesn’t remotely resemble Busto’s demonstration here.
I would argue that it could be. Many hitters have "stepped in the bucket" slightly and had tremendous success. That's why I think it isn't a big problem if the proper resistance is preventing everything else from opening with it.
Please, what is lag?? Some say the definition of lag is anytime the barrel is still behind, the hips?
I picture lag, as anytime before the wrist is released.
There is very little time the wrists are cocked, in an outside pitch.
Its all pretty much connected, from forearm twist and cock to release. Just like TM demenstrates.
Its not the same for inside pitches.
If all the bat speed comes from the first part of the swing, homeruns would be equal in number, between outside and inside pitches.
more bat speed is generated for middle inside pitches, than outside.
Why?
Definition of "LAG"
BAT LAG
BAT LAG is a momentary component that is sandwiched between the SLOT position and the CONTACT position . Bat lag is desirable because it will occur if the hitter times her wrist snap to accelerate the bat head when the acceleration will have the most impact, namely during CONTACT
