She originally was taught this by her former instructor. She mentioned that we would eventually move to the weight transfering forward but not at that time. I didn't understand why you would teach one way only to change later on down the road...seems it would be easier to do it right the first time, right??

So, is what this dd is doing with her back leg and foot something that is being taught to her?
This is one area that seems to be greatly misunderstood.
What should be done with the foot and leg?
How do you get to the high level movement of the elite hitters?
I use coil foward, uncoil, not much said on the leg and foot, but lots of my students, keep the leg stiff, and do not "get sat",

I have seen so many clips of coaches, even high level coaches, saying drive that knee down and in, this will rotate the hips.

You can see that her back foot is no longer spinning which is good, keep up the good work. Now as you keep work that work in the next two things.

1. This is actually a good drill work on keeping you hands back. She needs to get separation. Watch in her video you can see as she comes forward her hands come forward with her and she is actually starting her hands/arms swinging before her front toe even touches. This is out of sequence, should get some of our regular posters to be able to show gifs of toe touch with the hands still being back this is what she needs to develop a high quality swing. I went back and looked at earlier video and it is not as bad but it still looks like she is using her foot coming down as her cue to start the hands coming down which is too early the hands need to wait.

2. Next use your cursor to track her front foot her back heel is still actually behind where it start, again if you are dead set against striding fine (although just 6 little inches would be a great start) but she can't land and have her foot behind where it started. Is this something she has been coached that softball players can't stride like baseball players because the reaction time is too short? This is a myth I think their is even a video in model swing thread of a girl that actually uses a toe touch (as a trigger) then actually strides out after the first toe touch, again don't take my word for it look at video you will see most elite level players stride if it is good enough for them it is good enough for your DD.

Awesome work....things will clean up as she moves along - try some soft toss.

We worked a bit on the "spinning" today...here is a short clip.

This was a tee drill which is why here stride leg comes up so high.

It looks better,right?

The big hip coil is a hot topic and allot of the hitting guys here say you need it in your swing.
When you add a swing adjustment, it normally changes something else.

Doing a big hip coil for a feel has its benefits

Doing a big hip coil puts in allot of head movement, and moves the eyes up and down. Something to consider.
Coiling and keeping the head on a even plane would be better
