I watched and listened to this video again and he's telling her to "snap the top hand". not stack the hands. She does know what he means when he's giving her these instructions.

Well, I will start and then others can give additional advice. I had to turn the sound off, so that I didn't have to listen to the instructor. My approach would be a lot different, but then, I don't know how often he has worked with her. He is using terms like "stack the hands" and "stay inside the ball" and I am not certain that she has been taught the terms. He sounded like he had just read a book on hitting.

She is too straight up and down and many times her shoulders seem to square to me.

We would be working the bottom half a lot and I would have her flexing the knees, almost into a "sit."

She stings her own hands at one point and she has to keep swinging, because they are using a machine. I wish that all instructors used a tee and soft toss. Then, you can stop and demonstrate what you are saying.

Yes, I mean no more back foot pivot....just a fancy phrase for spinning.....the swing is a throw of the barrel into the ball....the body acts just as it should when throwing a ball including the back foot and leg....cannot transfer weight if your back foot spins as efficiently....everything should work directionally into contact....

Thanks...when you say "spinning", do you mean the back pivot?

Do you have a video of a swing that you could use as an example?

Not here.
Lower half needs an overhaul - no more spinning and more transferring weight like throwing a ball.....I would start with that....(I know, I know, I am usually all about the hands....but she has quick hands....needs to get the spinning stopped otherwise her ceiling will be much lower then it needs to be)

Note the rear leg usage here. This is what your DD is presently doing. This is why she is unbalanced at times. Her rear leg/foot spins/bug squishes under her hips.
Please read this thread:http://www.discussfastpitch.com/softball-hitting-technical/5961-thoughts-daughters-swing.html
Start with the bottom half first. Get that right and your DD will be more of a power hitter.

In this gif notice that a box is placed there. If hitter was spinning now will hit the box. One way of see/correcting a spinner. Gets the off rear leg/foot. Instant feedback.
To see/prove if your DD is a spinner place something at rear foot or even put a piece of tape behind rear foot. Then tape and watch.

The GIFs do not show up for me...is it from another website that I may have to join to view them?

Thanks

You don't see the 2 gifs of the young girl I used as an example? If you mean gifs of your DD I did not post any.

She is strong. If I had to judge her instructor from just that video, it wouldn't be good. The "wait until the ball is too your front leg" que and idea is good, if the hitter already has a really good swing. Your dd spins (like mts and rdb said), and her power is coming from her spinning torso and arms. Her weight is leaking backwards. Ideally you would like to swing with weight shift into the ball. She has not learned to swing like that, so she spins and leaks back as fast as she can so she can follow her intructors advice of waiting until it gets to her front leg.
You can see her rear leg, hip, back are all powerful...if she is taught how to use them, she will be a weapon!

Walk up drill. Notice the rear foot/leg.

Another drill I like. Notice the rear leg/foot.
I would focus on the bottom half. Like most have stated.

He tells her to stay balanced, while I agree...... he is not showing her why she is falling off balance. As many have said she is just spinning the back foot and not throwing the back hip into the front. Maybe getting 60% out of the hips and has a lot more power she could be using. She has fast hands, you can see she has power. Clean up the lower half get her balanced not so tall and really using her hips and that girl would be dangerous. I don't like bat waggle, but that is just me....she is able to get to the ball even with that with her fast hands. Balance, balance, balance. Instructor is all about the hands and maybe that is what they were working on that day, but without the lower half being used properly she is not getting all she can out of her swing. JMHO
