Like you Straightleg I'm trying to help a dad have an AHA moment. There are different ways to come to the bat lag position. Some may like one way, where someone else may perfer another.I like one way,but my DD may not and may use another way.I have no control over her in the box.I only take swings in my garage or in my kitchen.I just would like any young girl that would like to have some success at the plate to hit the ball and have a smile.I also would like to help a dad understand it better.Maybe my dumb way can help.Maybe your experience may help.I'm just trying to pull back the curtain alittle. As far as arguements I admit I'm dumb.As I stated many times I'm just trying to help my DD make her high school team.I like you and others want every girl to succeed at the plate at what ever level they like to reach.I have a day job and its not hitting instructor I wish it was, because I luv "trying'' to teach hitting
NewBucketDad,
Getting this post back towards your DD.I just watched your DD.I am unable to view at work(work likes me to work). She really looks good for any age.You have done well your DD has done well.Continue.If you haven't read Megan1-Tee started by Immortal1.Pay attention to what is said about the back leg, stabialize the back leg.The high leg kick in games will be toned down.I like the hand set.Little more work on the bottom half.Next work on hitting off a tee at different positions. So read on tee position where to set and after ball is hit where should it go,depending on tee position. Also learn how to tilt down to the ball at various tee heights.I've seen alot of hitters posted and your DD really looks good for alot of ages. She;s going to be scary good.

Judging from your post #35 in this thread (and other recent posts) I don't believe you can legitimately refer to your way as dumb.
You, as have many other readers I'm sure, have absorbed quite a bit of great information from various posters. That's what makes this a great site. The explanations, opinions, video clips, etc., plus the very important "trying it for yourself" are a great way to learn. There are probably other great sites but this is the best I've found by far.
And having read probably all of your posts it is very encouraging to me to see how much you have learned. I believe you will agree with me that a year ago you were a complete rookie.
I'm sure that you, like myself, appreciate all those from whom we've learned.
Again, congratulations!

Its all good. Not every one hits the same way. Or feels the same thing.
Sometimes I might try 5 different ways, trying to accomplish one swing thought or a feel.
When I swing a bat I know what I feel. I ask the girls at times what they feel. Once in awhile it is different.
I move on and try to acomplish what I see in the swing and teach it in a different way, to that one hitter.

My youngest one that has put one over a fence is in 6th grade. 11 years old. She hit 4 this summer. I will add she is a big girl for her age.
A month and a half went by. They call for a tune up. Her mom right off the bat told me she went into a slump at the last couple tournaments.
Watched her swing. It was not the swing I taught her. She said her two college players that were her coach's told her to swing level. They changed other things.
I darn near had to start over. I also asked her how much she practiced what we worked on, since the month and a half since I seen her. I believe the answer was 0.
She had such success and sailed a few over the fence. I am sure she thought this is easy. A few tips from outside sources and no practice and now slump, lets start this swing over again.
There are so many different variables when it comes to teaching hitting...

We're in the same boat as your young girl as the new coach wants cole to swing level and take hands to ball. I finally had to say she is hitting the way she was being taught. Said it will not work but ok. Next pitch or two she hit it off fence so he said as long as you make something happen I won't change anything.
Is nicole getting that crack off her bat in practice... Hands to the ball will make the ball sound flat off the bat when hit.
I hope she does better in fall ball. Need some help let me know.

I try to help out hitters around my DD.The dad's just don't get it they want their DD's to swing level, down to the ball, squish the bug and all the other bad stuff.I just say "see how that works out for you" and shut up.My DD has become one of the best hitters on her teams.her varsity softball head coach said "she's the best ball player he has ever coached" He coached varsity baseball before coaching her softball team.I haved learned everything on this site from all the posters.Like I said before I'm obsessed with hitting, luv to coach hitting and luv to talk hitting, to the point I bore most people.I am always thinking of easier and better ways to teach hitting to my DD.My thoughts lately have been about getting my DD more forward momentum. What's great about this site is people post different ways, oppinions and approaches and readers get to choose what works for their DD through experimentation. Also thanks for the kind words.I try to help where I can because I was there and still am at times.I feel the posters(average dad) pain and try to help their DD succeed at the plate.I try to help.
