    Default No pull!

Dd (rh batter) can't hit left field anymore. I hate to complain too much that she goes opposite field. She started this season (12u) with 3 bombs over left field fence. In the last month everything hit is cf, the cf/rf gap, and rf. She hit front toss today about 100 balls, good hits, a few bouncin the fence, her scatter patern was about 60 cf to gap, 20 rf, and 20 various. Also interesting are most of her ground balls are in the ss area. So to lf on the ground, but can't line to left. She tried hitting to left, even side toss out in front of her, and she couldn't get even 1 to cf/lf gap. Any ideas?

I wish my DD had that problem of hitting bombs to any fence.lol.Maybe go back to the tee.Reverse the tee to face the back of a backstop-cage.Use the measurements that Hitter (H.C.) and straightleg use for their hitting station. This may help you see why your DD isn't pulling the ball. You and her can make adjustments depending on the results of the swing.Untill then you will have to "suffer'' with the balls that hit the right cf and rf fence.I kidd of course.

I'm in the other boat, mine can't stop pulling, always has and probably always will. I'm going to guess that in 2012 she has hit to RF no more than 5 times. I've worked and worked with her, I've had my friend ( ex MLB ) work with her and she does good in the cages and then POOF at game time Dead pull hitter.

I feel the same way, DD has hit #4-5 all through TB, middle school, and high school............so I guess she's doing something right. Just not doing it in right field.

I'd like to hear some thoughts on this as well. My DD (10) has a few triples and doubles over the right fielders head. (9/10 rec ball doesn't play very deep), and scared the crap outta a few 2nd basemans. But, even with me pitching slow and inside, she still goes right. Thought the bump up to a 31/21 might be the problem, so gave her a 30/19, and still....right field.

DD does the same thing, I think she is afraid to strike out or swing at bad pitches. Her hard hits are to the opposite field. In practice she will hit it anywhere you want but come game time she always seems to be a split second late in her swing. (Hope I am not hijacking your thread)

Inside pitch need to hit early, out front and quick.I replied earlier on this.Need to hit off a tee to the back of a marked off cage or hitting area.By the result of the swing you can see if adjustments need to be done. For down the middle pitch tee set up about 4'' in front of plate or where front stride foot lands.Move tee for inside pitch location and outside location.I like a tee, because it's hard to pitch a ball watch a swing and then watch the hit ball all at the same time.

Definitely need to get back to using the tee. Ours broke and I just replaced the tube. Although, iirc, she was OK with the tee.

Heck, with my extremely sophisticated and highly trained eye, I can barely see what is happening when standing right next to her. Definitely need to get some video so I see what is going on.

Not sure you are replying to me, but my dd it is not timing. I tried side tossing out in front (same as early hitting). I just need to get video. Also be carefull hitting into the backstop, that is why some backstop fences are bent in at the bottom where they will injure catchers. It will get you a free pass to the parking lot at most complexes.

rd - is there a thread with this drill explaining the details? or how do you mark off the net - 3 different fields? Appreciate the advice!!
