WCWS: Betters were moving in the box
And heard it straight from Mendoza that those batters need to make adjustments and move around in the box. Against Ricketts, righties were moving up and in, probably got three batters on by being hit by pitch.
I saw the thread here largely against it. Anyone rethinking their position or not?

Alabama is known as a team that has their batter's make adjustments in the batter's box.

I can talk softball all day
If you can't hit the pitcher you have to do something...if you do the same thing over and over you can expect to have the same result over and over...the getting on base on HBP against Ricketts doesn't seem to be helping much at this point...She is a machine in the circle and at the plate...

IMO Ricketts was over powering, it seemed Alabama was over matched and they seems to try and fight the pitches off instead of having solid swings.

How successful was it, other than getting a few of their players HBP?

It's an approach they've used all season ..... and they did make it to the championship game of the 2012 WCWS.

Mendoza, recommended moving in the box? She stands with her left foot on the back line and right foot on the front line!

I heard them, too. They were probably raised, in that era. I repeat that MLB does not do it. Maybe Alabama will take lighter bats up there tonight. (That's a joke.) Ricketts is just a total beast of a pitcher, hitter, runner, leader, etc. I would have to stick my hip out there, to even hope to get on base.
Coach Murphy said that they couldn't win if they let Ricketts strike them out 12 times. He was right.

Pat Murphy have at least a vague idea) haven't the slightest idea how to make small modifications to anything that even slightly resembles a good swing in order to get a player "in the pattern/sequence". So what do they do? They teach something that they KNOW how to modify. And quite simply, that something is the "knob to the ball, push through contact" linear.
So they teach it. And then they complain when their hitters can't hit.
I'm still laughing about the above post. Pat was Team USA hitting coach in 2004. Research his results winning % over 800 and look at his teams BA. This so called expert above has no clue what he was talking about. Should stick to BBF. Results speak for themself, not someone's opinion we all have those!
