Email sent. As I sent to CoachJD, some members will get a good laugh from me posting the meme that I did. Others won't get it and that is fine. Again, I consider Steve to be a very good friend.

Uh oh, did I do something wrong? I don't know who the guy is, and I'm totally willing to listen to anybody who gives me good reasons why I shouldn't listen to him!

SE's approach is significantly in the rotational/"fly-off-the-merry-go-round" camp, which some people don't agree is correct for elite swing mechanics.

My suggestion is to keep gathering information from many different sources, compare them to what you see in slo-mo video of the best hitters (Hansen Principle), put the different things you hear/read/see into action in your own body, and start to sort out what makes sense to you.

I'm not necessarily advocating this as the only truth about an elite swing, but it's another viewpoint to further your education...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W_4nI31DmI&index=15&list=PLLo_t691U8DVQCriImV9Kt44VdEI6iFir&t=4s

I'm not sure if I found that one on my own or someone sent that to me, but I've already got it bookmarked!

For what it's worth, I don't see a ton of differences in the various videos people have sent me since I started this thread. Someone more experienced might disagree, but I absolutely see some common teachings, even if the terminology or way of teaching it isn't always the same. And really, that's what I was looking for, so thanks to everybody who posted here with some advice and ideas.

A couple of things, first, I used a lot of Steve's stuff when coaching my dd. I don't believe that she would be consider "one of his hitters" but we tried to get close. Others have taken different paths and found success. More than one way to skin a cat!

JD, you are making progress. Looking at video isn't as simple as it sounds. There are small minute things that really matter a lot but you will eventually pick those things up. When you find some of the things you think are similar study them again. You might then agree or find out that you are wrong in that first assessment. You are on a journey as well. Enjoy the ride.

JD,

If you're still checking this forum - any update on their progress? Have tryouts/practices started yet? (Realizing it's Chicago - assuming anything now would be indoor / gym work)
