When all I saw was the gif, I was a little surprised to see such a downward "chop" in her swing.

But her Sunday swat above is a much different swing (maybe a much different pitch?). I like the rear view on this one - you get a clear view of her rear elbow pulling back. And I may be overreaching a little, but is that a little FBC I'm seeing?

The swing in the gif posted by Spartans21 is definitely not one of her best swings, and a pretty big chop. If you look at the video on page 1 that Spartans used for the gif, there are other swings from the same day that were much better. In Maddie's defense, that swing was from her first game AB since the end of July. I thought it was interesting that she decided to use a stride-and-hold move, which is something she does when she's struggling with her timing. I was just happy that she put the ball in play.

The "Sunday swat" was pretty much in her favorite pitch location - upper middle - and she made the pitcher pay for the mistake. :)

FBC is something we have worked on. I'd like to see a little bit more "pocket to pitcher", but it's not something I'm nit-picking with her at the moment.

Looking good....Maddie is progressing well and is in good hands. I would be proud.

Eric, as you know, I am real big on that back hip, back knee, ... I have gone frame to frame and Maddie's swing is impressive. Look at the action of her back knee. It isn't forced at all. Rather, it is a result of great hip action and I would think that she can feel that on her inner back thigh. Also, I don't use the phrase "go" when I coach but look at her in that "go" position. Notice the angle of her body, her hands and her hips. I really like this swing.

Thanks, CB! We talk a lot about the power engine being centered in the back hip, and how the rear leg action is a result of what's happening above it.
