Here's a quick 1 swing video first time swinging it this was at her second hitting lesson so be nice she needs a lot of work on her swing mechanics and is trying to learn to use her lower body in her swing.

That bat is waaaayyy too big. She is dragging it through the zone and squatting to try to power it through.

YOCOACH's DD swings that size bat and she's 5'10", 17 years old, and weighs (I'm guessing) somewhere between 160-180 and is by no means a fat girl.

If you keep her swinging that bat, you will do swing damage that will take years of hard work to fix.

don't discount the experienced posters here. your daughter is obviously very strong and has potential to become a power hitter but having her swing that bat is still crazy. even with her strength that bat is swinging her even though she occasionally might hit one out. that is no ego contest about who can swing the biggest stick there are probably many college hitters using a smaller stick and even though she is strong she is still a kid.

a swing should be quick, short and sudden to the ball and not muscling /sweeping it through the zone.

she might still become a good player but having a 10u kid swing an adult bat is just a very non standard way of teaching to say it mildly. at the very least you unnecessarily make it hard for her and at worst you engrain wrong movement patterns in order to handle that bat.

I'm truly not trying to be a jerk when I say that even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again. She will be a much better, more consistent hitter with an appropriately sized bat. Plus, against fast pitching, she'll never get it around fast enough.

Find a bat size where she can make consistent contact with a controlled swing. My recommendation for every parent is to resist the urge to purchase (or use) equipment that is too large. Kids will either get discouraged or develop poor technique.

P.S. In looking at the video, Most pitchers/coaches would pitch her high and inside. Dropping hands / long swing.

I agree very knowledgeable bunch here!

But unfortunately you're not listening to any of them.

Curious, in your original post you mentioned something about staying at 10U this fall. Is she aging up to 12U and playing down now?
