For high school age what are some typical drills or approach ideas you would do preparing to face a 60-62 mph, rise and fastball....Thanks

You have 2 different things here.

Rise layoff, wish I could tell you how to identify it soon enough not to swing. It is a nice pitch.
Fastball, throw 70. Move up or a machine but get the ball fast.

I only work with my kid now. We start every bp with the "Ryan Braun" drill succession.

Then do snf drill, about 20 or so off tee at different locations, mostly driving oppo and up the middle. Then about 20-30 regular swings hitting to different corners of back of cage. Then 50-75 front toss and pitches. Less if hitting consistant. If popping up or grounding, we go to snf with pitching. In snf she can hit nearly 100% of anything thrown for a line drive up the middle.
When hitting she has an open stance. This spring she has discovered that she can hit well still open.

Late add, she has 1 strikeout in 4 tourneys against some of the best 18u pitchers in the country. Watching video, at least 3 of her homeruns were rise balls.

Less talk more action :)

Smart drills, done consistently, with a purpose and with results being the "corrective" engine.

Curious: do you look at any video of her swing at this point RHC?

If it is not being thrown for a called strike then "zone low".

If it is being thrown for a called strike then perform dry swing elements that help improve your "hand path".

RHC- does your dd put the same emphasis on hitting the ball on the lower inside quarter?

Rich, she looks at video of her swings more than I do. I will make just a few comments to her, but she can usually pick herself apart on her own. I typically just down play her critque. One last weekend she had said "that swing is ugly" I just said "you just sliced it a little instead of squaring up, just keep working on getting the barrel behind the ball, still hit it well though."

Westwind. She does when doing the drill hitting off the tee. I just asked her what about when at bat, she said "no, lately I have been thinking about getting my barrel behind my rear hip and hands back"
